Leading the Way to a Healthier Future
Over the last 5 years 'Ntolerance has steadily gained recognition in Franklin and surrounding areas for being a "One Stop Shop" for people with food allergies, intolerances, and for those who just feel like something different every now and again! 'Ntolerance both began, and is now being run by people who have dealt first hand with food allergies which have changed their lives. 'Ntolerance was founded in 2004 by Sue & Mark Egbers after an arduous 3yr journey to discover that their son Matthew had coeliac disease. As anybody who has been diagnosed with an allergy or intolerance will understand, Sue found that this brought on a whole new and difficult meaning to supermarket shopping and sourcing food for her son. After discussing her difficulties with others who were going through the same thing, it was decided that there had to be an easier way… and so 'Ntolerance was born!
Late in 2008 'Ntolerance was taken over by Heather Faulkner, who up until then was working as a local Practice Nurse taking an active role in cardiovascular disease and diabetes education. Heather had been a regular customer of Sue's out of necessity after being diagnosed with coeliac disease in 2005. Only after diagnosis did Heather realise she had suffered with gastric symptoms for many years but had learned to live with them. Prior to her diagnosis she pursued a weight loss plan and lost 30kg but found she was still lacking in energy, finding it difficult to complete a day's work and coming home and crashing. This led her to have a series of blood tests run including 'coeliac markers' which came back positive and were confirmed by biopsy. Through Sue's knowledge and experience with similar difficulties, Heather was able to glean a lot of information and begin to enjoy food once more without having to worry about the after-effects. Similarly, with Heather's personal experience and her added knowledge and experience in the medical field, she is able to help you with a lot of queries in regards to specialty food. And if she doesn't have the answers she will do her best to find out! Heather is a wife, a mother and a grandmother and counts herself (and her family) very fortunate that none of her family members have coeliac disease. For those of you out there who do, or have other allergies and intolerances, Heather's aim is to constantly work on sourcing new and exciting products at competitive prices to make your lives easier. In turn, to achieve this aim, your feedback is highly valued and always welcome. Please feel free to pop in, check out what new products are in store and purchase some of your old favourites, and let Heather know what you think.
